We are very pleased to report an EVE communications signal success from Dwingeloo.
EVE is an amateur radio earth-venus-earth communications attempt, which builds on the many years of legacy established by AMSAT-DL in 2009, was stepped up to by CAMRAS/Dwingeloo in 2025, and has now been fully achieved in 2026.
If you’re familiar with EME, then EVE is simply pointing at another celestial body, and carrying out communications. Venus is much further away than the Moon, which makes it harder, but the techniques from EME (Earth Moon Earth) are directly related to EVE attempts.
The central challenge is dealing with the Doppler Spread.
Dwingeloo’s success is a big step forward for all of amateur radio and especially the microwave community . Thank you to Dwingeloo, Stockert, Effelsberg, Jodrell Bank, and Westerbork sites, all of which were involved with the EVE2026 attempt.
DSES (Deep Space Exploration Society) also has an effort going on.

Thank you to everyone that has helped this effort, from big dishes to small. This is a very positive and significant achievement for open source digital radio, amateur radio, amateur radio astronomy, and citizen science.
