The Future Fun of Millimeter Wave Communications

“It’s only going to get better.” -Jan King

10, 24, and 47 GHz bands have so much to offer, are more like the HF bands than we think, and have aspects and characteristics that are unappreciated, understudied, or just plain unknown. Jan walks through some of the regulatory quirks with these bands, explains the effects of atmospheric conditions, and classes the bands into natural uplinks or downlinks and how different the links can behave at different elevations and geographical locations.

Modes, modulations, and a new approach to building rigs are discussed along with the importance of a link budget and forward error corrective approach.
